Relative Frequency

relative Frequency is a ratio of the number of times a particular outcome or event occurred to the total number of times the experiment was conducted.

For example a teacher asks her class, "what's the main reason you use computer:


Internet, Games, word processing, or something else?"





To make a frequency table, first list each item in the data. Then count and record the number of


times each item occurs. Using a tally will help you count.

Solve and round your answers to the nearest tenth:

Three math tests have been written this term. The mean mark is 74%. What must the next mark need to be to raise the mean to 78%?

Five tests have been written for a mean of 82%. What must the next mark need to be to raise the mean to 85%?

The temperatures of 4 days have been recorded. The mean temperature is 21 degrees Celsius. What must the next temperature be to raise the mean to 22 degrees?
